PALMA CEIA - The Plant High Rowing Association made its mark at the Head of the Hooch Regatta in Chattanooga, Tenn., on Nov. 3 and 4.
More than 1,300 boats competed in the 3 1/4 -mile races on the Tennessee River and raised more than $44,000 for Row for the Cure.
Plant's Women's Varsity 8 team earned the bronze medal, which was presented by two members of the U.S. Men's National Rowing Team. Varsity 8 team members include Aubrey Larson, Molly Hamrick, Sara Smythe, Elle Murray, Luisa Isbell, Allie Clark, Ashley Bennett, Shirley Vogler and Allie Alemany.
The Women's Novice 8 team earned a silver medal in its event. The team was directed by Abigail Eastridge and included Parker Hodges, Catherine Formusa, Melissa Bennett, Garrison Hodges, Alexis Soyster, Cecilia Valeri, Amy Bennett and Rebecca Reddeck.
The Men's Youth Lightweight 8, which finished fourth in its race, was directed by Carly Heitlinger and included Chris Halpern, Ryan Carley, Alex Tanner, Conor Howlett, Michael Pittman, Tanner Votaw, Martin McGowan and Oliver Mount.
