Krewe, Zendah Grotto Plan Mystery Dinner Theater Benefit

DREW PARK - The Krewe of Grace O'Malley and Zendah Grotto will host a benefit Mystery Dinner Theater, "Squires Inn," to support their organizations' charities, including the Cerebral Palsy Foundation.

The event is Nov. 10 at 4901 N. Lauber Way. It begins at 6 p.m. with a cocktail hour, and at 7 p.m. there is a turkey dinner buffet. During dinner, actors will create a mystery scenario for guests to solve.

YMCA Deals Casino Night

YBOR CITY - The Interbay-Glover Family YMCA will host its eighth annual Let's Have a Ball Casino Night on Nov. 10 at the Lion's Eye Institute, 1410 21st St.

The event, from 7 to 11 p.m., features casino games, a silent auction, music and food from The Rack and Zudar's Deli.

Proceeds will benefit the YMCA's Building Strong Kids Campaign, which provides scholarships to youngsters, families and seniors to participate in YMCA programs.

Celebrity Planner Is Guest Speaker

DOWNTOWN - Colin Cowie, a celebrity party planner, will speak Nov. 15 at the Tampa Convention Center at a program sponsored by the Tampa Bay Chapter of Meeting Professionals International.

Cowie's clients include Oprah Winfrey, Tom Cruise, John Travolta and Hugh Hefner. He is a regular guest on "Oprah" and his books include "Colin Cowie's Extraordinary Weddings."

The event includes a VIP brunch at 11 a.m. and the 1 p.m. speech. Tickets for the brunch and Cowie's presentation are $100 to $150; speech-only tickets are $65 to $85.

Attendees are encouraged to bring toys, gifts, gift cards or cash for Kids Charity of Tampa Bay, which will distribute the donations to groups assisting foster children.

Sword Of Hope Guild Gets Financial Advice

UNIVERSITY AREA - Financial advice for retirement will be the topic when the Sword of Hope Guild of the American Cancer Society meets Friday at the University Village retirement center, 12401 N. 22nd St.

Organizations Plan Luncheon Meetings

SOUTH TAMPA - Three organizations have planned luncheons during the upcoming week. They are:

•The South Tampa Christian Woman's Club will have a Carnival of Fun luncheon Thursday at the Clubhouse of Regency Cove, 4851 Gandy Blvd.

The event includes a thrift sale and silent auction beginning at 10:15 a.m. The program at 10:45 a.m. features a performance by vocalist Deb Johnston and vocalist-professional model Tamra Nashman's presentation "Are You Wearing The Right Shoes?"

•The Tampa Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America will hear from Marine Corps Capt. Seth M. Lynn, assistant inspector instructor of the 4th Assault Amphibian Battalion, at its Thursday luncheon.

The event will be at the MacDill Air Force Base Officers Club; social time is at 11 a.m., with the lunch at 11:30 a.m.

Lynn will discuss his two deployments to Iraq and a recent trip to Vietnam and Cambodia.

•United Daughters of the Confederacy, Chapter 113, will meet at 11 a.m. Nov. 10 at the Columbia Restaurant in Ybor City.

Beach Park Group Elects Officers

BEACH PARK - The Beach Park Homeowners Association, which includes about 1,300 homes south of the West Shore Business District, recently elected its officers and board of directors.

They are: Emmy Purcell Reynolds, president; Joel Williams, vice president; Barbara Hudson, treasurer; and Jackie Toledo, secretary.

Board members are Greg Margagliano, Bobby Ann Tarcza, Linda Wolf Wilson, Leon Goldenberg, Lynn Gross, Maria O'Sullivan and Margaret Vizzi.

Food Drive, Dinner To Benefit Charity

HYDE PARK - Collection bins for donations of canned goods for Metropolitan Ministries will be available near the fountain at Hyde Park Village from Wednesday through Nov. 14.

The collection is part of the Feed the Cause campaign by the village, babynewsbits.com and The Wine Exchange.

On Nov. 10, The Wine Exchange will host a family dinner at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $16 or $8 for ages 12 and younger. Learning Express Toys representatives will read bedtime stories to children in the restaurant's courtyard after dinner.

Garden Groups Plan Programs

SOUTH TAMPA - Three garden clubs will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday for various programs. They are:

•The Beach Park Garden Club will meet at the Beach Park Women's Club, 801 S. West Shore Blvd.

Norma Bean, a master gardener, will present a program on holiday floral arrangements. A business meeting will follow, with President Debbie Porter presiding. Members will vote on the charities to receive proceeds from the club's holiday auction.
