SEMINOLE HEIGHTS - Who's the fairest in the land of B'GOSH?
The answer will come in February when the Business Guild of Seminole Heights, or B'GOSH, announces two beautification award winners; nominations are being accepted until midnight Dec. 30.
The winners of the people's choice and judge's awards will be announced at the guild's quarterly meeting. This is the second year for the awards, which recognize owners who beautify their businesses.
Criteria include cleanliness and building condition; landscaping; lighting, fencing and signs; handicap accessibility; and quality of preservation of historical structures.
"They are definitely pioneers ... to create their businesses and make them beautiful," beautification chairwoman Suzanne Prieur said.
The winners of last year's awards, Cappy's Pizza and First Home Realty, which is now The Heights Realty Group, are not eligible this year. Home-based businesses are not eligible.
The guild, which was founded in 2005 after community meetings, signed up more than 50 members in its first year and now has about 115. Its recently elected officers are: Elizabeth Graham, president; Raquel Coryer, vice president; Petra Sussman, secretary; and Stephanie Beckel, treasurer.
Nominating forms for the awards can be picked up at Sherry's YesterDaze, 5207 N. Florida Ave.; Forever Beautiful, 5135 N. Florida Ave.; and Tampa Antiquarian Books, 6116 N. Central Ave. Forms also are available at www.bgosh.org. For information, call Prieur at (813) 610-5255.
