TAMPA - Thanksgiving is over and the holiday party season is starting. Among the events planned are:
The 19th annual Holiday Fashion Show to benefit the breast cancer center at St. Joseph's Women's Hospital. The event will be Thursday at the Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina, 700 S. Florida Ave.
Doors open at 10 a.m. for silent and live auctions. The fashion show is at noon and lunch follows.
Dianne Cox and Georgette Diaz are co-chairwomen of the event, which will feature items from Georgettes and The Shoe Salon. Tickets are $60 and $100. For information, call (813) 872-0979.
•The Henry B. Plant Museum Society's annual Holiday Cocktail Buffet and Victorian Christmas Stroll Preview Party will be at 7 p.m. Friday at the University of Tampa, 401 W. Kennedy Blvd.
The event features Christmas settings, music and food. It kicks off the Victorian Stroll, which starts Dec. 1. The museum store will be open for the party.

•The American Red Cross' seventh annual Create Your Own Gingerbread House event, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Dec. 1, will feature a champagne brunch, a gingerbread house decorating contest and prizes.
It will be at the University of Tampa's Fletcher Lounge, 401 W. Kennedy Blvd. Tickets are $70 for ages 15 and older, and $55 for others. For reservations, call (813) 348-4820, Ext. 863.
•At the Make and Take Craft Program, sponsored by the Tampa Woman's Club, instructors will help participants with scrapbooking, beading, one-stroke painting, card-making and holiday crafts.
The event, from 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 2 at the club, 2901 Bayshore Blvd., will include a dessert buffet and a teacup silent auction. The cost is $10, and proceeds will benefit Kids Charities of Tampa Bay.

•The Lamplighters Silver Christmas Coffee will be at the home of Kim and Matthew Hoffman from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 6.
The minimum donation is $20, and proceeds will be used to buy toys for children served by Metropolitan Ministries.

Red Cross Angels Gather At Bayshore Home
BAYSHORE - Members and guests of the Red Cross Angels met Monday at the home of Glenda and Clark Barlow to elect officers and plan a major fundraiser.
Beverly Austin was elected president. Other officers are: Mary Jane Martinez, vice president; Aida Calafel, recording secretary; J.J. Jones, corresponding secretary; and Sally Hill, treasurer.
Austin said the group is planning an event April 25 at MacDill Air Force Base to benefit programs to assist military personnel returning from duty oversees.
The leaders are trying to revitalize the organization, which has lost members over the years. They said they were happy about 50 people attended Monday's meeting.

Child Abuse Council Recognizes Volunteers
INTERBAY - Individuals and businesses were honored at the annual Child Abuse Council Volunteer Luncheon at the Tampa Yacht Club.
Leslie McHale received the Liz Kennedy Community Service Award; Candice and Nikita Haytread received the You Rock! Youth in Philanthropy Award; and Blue Cross Blue Shield was honored with the Corporate Volunteer Award.
Homeless Coalition Presents Awards
YBOR CITY - The Homeless Coalition recently presented its Lifetime Achievement Award posthumously to John Darby, who was the coalition's board president when he died in January 2006.
The award was given at the coalition's annual meeting Nov. 15 at the Columbia Restaurant.
The coalition also presented Homeless Hero Awards to: Walldertrudis "Wally" DeJesus, an outreach clinical case manager at Mental Health Care; Wendy Hellickson, who heads the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' Healthcare for Homeless Veterans programs; and Bethany Robinson, who was homeless but returned to school and now assists social services programs.
Lucky Ducky Derby Benefits Food Bank
CHANNEL DISTRICT - The Lucky Ducky Derby raised more than $55,000 for America's Second Harvest of Tampa Bay Food Bank.
The event, Nov. 11 on the Garrison Channel, featured 20,000 rubber ducks "racing" to the finish line. Participants paid $5 for each duck, with winners receiving prizes.
Bank Of America Honors Volunteers
SOUTH TAMPA - The Bank of America Charitable Foundation recently recognized individuals making a difference in the Tampa Bay area.
Among those honored were: Romey Battle, who mentors students at Middleton High School; Sylvia Campbell, a physician who has volunteered at Judeo Christian Health Clinic since 1980; Morris Hintzman, who has led Metropolitan Ministries for 25 years; and Franci Golman Rudolphl, a volunteer leader of many cultural and health institutions.
High school students with leadership potential and an interest in improving their neighborhoods also were recognized, including Kelsey Spiller of the Academy of the Holy Names.
Women's Club To Review Constitution, Set Goals
USF CAMPUS - The University of South Florida Women's Club will have a general membership meeting Monday to review its constitution and set long-term goals.
