SOUTH TAMPA - Volunteers and sponsors helped kick off the local Toys for Tots program's 40th annual toy collection and distribution campaign recently.
The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve's program collects new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December for distribution to needy children at Christmas. In 2005, more than 18.5 million toys were distributed to 7.5 million children in the United States, organizers say.
