YBOR CITY - Former Tampa Mayor Dick Greco will be the subject of Toast and Roast the Honorable Dick Greco, a fundraiser for the preservation of the Italian Club.
The event will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Italian Club, 1731 E. Seventh Ave.
Jack Harris will be the master of ceremonies. Roasters are Jack Espinosa Sr., Tampa Tribune columnist Dan Ruth and Rick Nafe.
Hillsborough County Tax Appraiser Rob Turner is assisting in organizing the event.
Reserved seats are $200, $350 and $500 each. Sponsorships range from $2,000 to $5,000. All proceeds go to the club's Building & Cultural Trust Fund.

Puttin' On The Glitz Celebrates 20 Years
DOWNTOWN - The Auxiliary of Northside Mental Health Center will present its annual celebrity fashion show and luncheon, Puttin' on the Glitz - 20 Years of Steppin' Out for Kids.
The event begins at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Hyatt Regency Tampa, Two Tampa City Center. Proceeds will benefit the PhoneFriend program, where latchkey children can call to get homework help or to talk.
The celebrity fashion show will feature clothes and accessories from Kit's Well-Heeled and Well-Dressed in Hyde Park. The fundraiser also includes entertainment by Belinda Womack and a live and a silent auction.
Jack Harris will be the emcee. He and News Channel 8 anchor Gayle Sierens will be honored for their 20 years of service to PhoneFriends.
Celebrity models include Sierens and News Channel 8 anchors Gayle Guyardo and Stacie Schaible, Nerissa Prest, Jennifer Closshey and Monica Culpepper. Escorts are Brad Culpepper, Dave Moore, Ron Stewart, Joe Magran, Mark Boushall and others.

Meeting Featured Boutique's Fashions
PALMA CEIA - About 30 members of The Spring Daytime Auxiliary and guests got a look at what The Spring Vintage Boutique offers customers.
Auxiliary members modeled pants suits, evening gowns, skirts and blouses and accessories in a fashion show featuring clothes from the South Tampa store at 3418 W. Swann Ave.
Outfits, complete with jewelry, ranged from about $15 to $75. Several designer-name pieces were included in the show.
The proceeds from the store assist The Spring, a domestic-violence shelter.
Sarah Coates served as the show narrator; Mary Nipper and Maggie Boree assisted with organizing the salad-and-sandwich luncheon.
Kendal Mitchell, a New Tampa resident, is president of the organization. She said the purpose of the group 'is two-fold - to earn money for The Spring and to have a good time while we do it.'
She said the auxiliary provides volunteers for working in the store and assists with other fundraising events.
The auxiliary meets at noon the third Tuesday of each month. The November meeting will be at The Spring's shelter. Membership is $30 a year.

Ybor City Seniors Plan Luncheon
YBOR CITY - The Ybor City Seniors will have a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 29 at the Columbia Restaurant, 2117 E. Seventh Ave.
Singer Robert Ferrer and comedian Jack Espinosa Sr. will entertain.

Women's Club Meets Friday
BEACH PARK - Marilyn Silverman, a fitness instructor, will be the speaker when the Beach Park Women's Club meets Friday at the clubhouse, 801 S. West Shore Blvd.
Social time is at 10:30 a.m., the meeting at 10:45 a.m. and the luncheon at noon.
Janice Lindgren is the luncheon hostess. Committee members are Janice Keetch, Pam Menendez, Faith Morris, Jill Oransky, Anna Snipes and Bobby Ann Tarcza. Cindy Ruff is in charge of the guest book.

Garden Groups Plan Activities
SOUTH TAMPA - Several garden clubs have events scheduled. They are:
• The Davis Islands Garden Club, which will have a concert on the lawn Friday.
The event, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the center, 81 Columbia Drive, will feature Barbara St. Denis and her Variety Band.
Tickets are $12 in advance ($15 at the door) for ages 13 and older, $5 for ages 6 to 12 and free for those 5 and younger.
Guests can bring a picnic basket, and a dessert/bake sale is planned.
Part of the proceeds will be given to Habitat for Humanity's landscaping project and the Ybor City State Museum. For information, call (813) 251-3123.
• The Parkland Garden Club, which will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the home of Betty Lou Turner, 2801 W. Terrace Drive.
John Dyn from KaBloom will present the program Fall Florals, with information about Thanksgiving and fall arrangements. Dinner will be served.

• The Sunset Park Garden Club, which will have its annual Plant Sale and Flea Market on Oct. 27.
The sale at 4624 Browning Ave. opens at 8 a.m. with coffee and doughnuts. Hot dogs will be on sale at noon.
Cora Harless is chairwoman of the plant sale featuring hanging baskets, seedlings and shrubs. Jayne Smith is chairwoman of the flea market, which will have clothing and household items. Lucille Lerer and Eleanor Davis are in charge of food.

• The Tampa Bay Begonia Society will have a program about propagating cane begonias at its Oct. 27 meeting.

Wade Boggs Hosts Tournament
ST. PETERSBURG - Tampa resident Wade Boggs, a baseball Hall of Famer, will host the 10th annual Grand Slam Celebrity Fishing Tournament.
The event is Nov. 9-11 at the Renaissance Vinoy Hotel in St. Petersburg. Boggs will be joined by celebrities and local sportsmen in dozens of boats.
The tournament kickoff will be the Fisherman's Ball at Tropicana Field, where auction items include a week's stay at Jimmy Buffett's former estate, a Tampa Bay Lightning package, a puppy and other items.
The weekend of events will benefit the Pediatric Cancer Foundation.
