SOUTH TAMPA - More than 300 volunteers watered plants, mulched, weeded and cleaned up the Mabry Elementary School campus, 4201 Estrella St., on Oct. 6 at the annual Fall Campus Beautification Day.
Anything Outdoors, a landscaping and maintenance company, brought staff and equipment to help. Executive Tree Service provided the school with recycled mulch, and students, families, the Mabry Dad's Club, the Coleman Middle School Beta Club, Mabry Cub and Boy Scout troops, and Mabry teachers and staff all lent a hand in the cleanup.
Included in the effort was a Shred-a-thon, where PTA beautification committee chairwoman Tara Bethea said 2 tons of paper was diverted from a landfill. ProShred Security brought a mobile shredding truck to campus, and the shredded waste was recycled, baled and will be sold to a paper mill for reuse.
