SOUTH TAMPA - Four events with a holiday theme will provide opportunities for buying gifts and decorating items. They include:
•The Holiday Shopping Day from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 5 at the Henry B. Plant Museum at the University of Tampa, 401 W. Kennedy Blvd.
The store includes ornaments, table decorations, books, jewelry, fragrances, toys and other items. Shoppers will get a 10 percent discount; free admission.
As part of the event, artists Lea Davis and Lana McLaurin will showcase their custom jewelry from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Treats will be available throughout the day, and wine and cheese will be offered in the evening. Box lunches are available for $9 but must be ordered by Thursday by calling (813) 258-7302.
The Oo-La-La ... Fa-La-La Holiday Boutique will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 3 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and School, 3712 El Prado Blvd.
Sponsored by RSL of Florida's Under-14 girls' soccer team, the event will feature jewelry, homemade crafts, stationery, orchids, candles, home decor and other items. A Children's Santa Shop, pictures with Santa and a bake sale also are planned. Admission is free.
Proceeds will be used toward a planned trip to Spain by the team, associated with the Real Salt Lake organization.
•The seventh annual Fall Arts & Crafts Show, sponsored by Manhattan Avenue United Methodist Church, is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 3 at the church, 4511 S. Manhattan Ave.
The free event includes holiday gift vendors and a bake sale. A salad luncheon will be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for $6.
•The third annual Harvest Market, sponsored by St. John's Episcopal Church, 906 S. Orleans Ave., will be from 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 10.
Plants and flowers, gifts, decorative items, food and collectibles will be for sale, and breakfast will be served from 9 to 10 a.m. in the courtyard. Breakfast tickets are $10 and available at the church.
Bill Starkey Honored For Community Service
DOWNTOWN - The Exchange Club of Tampa recently presented its James H. Kynes Award for Outstanding Community Service to Bill Starkey, retired president of GTE Information Services.
The award is named for the late Kynes, who was an Exchange Club member. It was presented at the club's fall party at the University Club.
Starkey was interim director of the Port of Tampa in 2004-05 and is chairman of the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay.
Previous award winners are Al Austin, Jim Ferman Jr., Stan Harrell, Fred Karl, David Kenney, Leonard Levy, George Levy, Frank Morsani, Fred Reddy, Shirley Ryals, Bob Samuels and John Sykes.
Ophelia Project Marks Anniversary
SOUTH TAMPA - Molly Barker, a four-time Ironman triathlete and founder of Girls on the Run International, will speak at the fifth anniversary celebration of The Ophelia Project - Tampa Bay.
The luncheon will be Friday at Higgins Hall, 5225 N. Himes Ave. Registration and a silent auction are at 11 a.m.; the luncheon is at 11:45 a.m.
Girls on the Run, a national program for personal growth and professional fulfillment, will be offered locally in 2008 by The Ophelia Project.

Hometown Democracy Topic For Luncheon
DOWNTOWN - The Tiger Bay Club of Tampa will sponsor a debate about Florida Hometown Democracy at its Nov. 16 meeting.
The meeting, open to members and guests, will be at Maestro's, 1010 N. MacInnes Place. Registration is at 11:30 a.m.; lunch is at noon.
The speakers will be Lesley Blackner, environmental lawyer and founder of the Florida Hometown Democracy movement, and John Thrasher, former speaker of the Florida House and now with South Strategy Group.

Musicale Plans Program, Lunch
HYDE PARK - Opus, the University of Tampa's music theater ensemble, will perform at Friday's meeting of the Friday Morning Musicale at The Musicale Building, 809 Horatio St.
The ensemble, directed by David Clark Isele, will perform a 'Sound of Music' medley and other selections. The program, beginning at 10 a.m., also includes a report by Rivers Tyler.
Lunch will be served following the presentations; hosts are Loraine Taylor, Mary Bosy and Kim Michael.
