TAMPA - Two teens in Halloween costumes caused a stir in Davis Islands on Tuesday when someone thought the gun-toting man and his hostage were real, police said.
Police responded to the 600 block of Danube Avenue shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday with more than a dozen officers and a helicopter after a 911 caller reported "a man with a shotgun was leading a hooded, leashed woman down the street," police spokeswoman Janelle McGregor said.
The officers soon found an 18-year-old woman and a 17-year-old man matching that description – with a fake gun as part of their costumes, McGregor said.
Police filed no charges but warned the pair that their appearance could be misunderstood, McGregor said.
