EAST TAMPA - A redevelopment advisory board needs a for-profit business owner to round out a recommended slate of officers for September elections.
The city council recently approved a slate that includes residents and property owners: Donald Brookins, Tatiana Denson, Molbert Scrivens, Robert Blount III and William Dennis.
But the list needs a candidate who owns an East Tampa business. Two candidates who applied did not meet bylaw requirements or had a business address outside East Tampa.
The election is scheduled for Sept. 9 during a general meeting of the East Tampa Community Revitalization Partnership. The volunteer group advises the city on redevelopment projects within a 7-square-mile area bordered by Hillsborough Avenue, interstates 275 and 4, and the city limits.
The council this year opted to expand the partnership's board from nine to 13 members. The goal over the next two election cycles is to ensure a mix of East Tampa residents, and business and property owners are represented.
For information on applying, call Michelle VanLoan of the East Tampa Redevelopment Office at (813) 242-3809.
