EAST TAMPA - The city council, acting as the Community Redevelopment Agency, has added two business owners to the slate of candidates for the volunteer board of the East Tampa Community Revitalization Partnership.
The nominees are Juan Davis of Fast Lane Clothing and Michael Kelley of Point West Engineering. The election is Sept. 9.
The council previously approved a slate that included all positions except one that must be filled by an East Tampa for-profit business owner. Two applicants had been disqualified based on bylaws or because their business is outside East Tampa.
The council has approved nominees Donald Brookins, Tatiana Denson and Molbert Robinson Scrivens for slots reserved for residents.
The partnership advises the city on redevelopment projects within a 7-square-mile area bordered by Hillsborough Avenue, interstates 275 and 4, and the city limits.
This year, the council voted to expand the partnership's board from nine to 13 members. The goal is to ensure a mix of residents, and business and property owners are represented.
