Plant High Reunion Bears Gifts

PALMA CEIA - On Aug. 15, members of Plant High School's Class of 1958 presented Principal Robert Nelson with a black, ceramic panther signed by those who attended the 50th reunion in April.

Basketball coach Mike Phillips received a framed picture of five members of the 1958 basketball team and their coach, Salty Burns, who all attended the reunion.

Plant's basketball team won the state championship on March 8, 1958, beating Ocala High School in Gainesville. The team included David Kennedy, Gary Dalton, Jim Reed, Jim Giles, Dick Hitt, David Ward, Ed Durbin, Tom Traina, John Trulock, John Wright, Nick Colmenares, Mike Jordan, Jim Morris and Jon Shebel.
