FAIR OAKS - After four years and truckloads of popcorn, Zota Theatres at Britton Plaza will screen its last film tonight.
"It is definitely disappointing," said Ken McBroom, manager of the eight-screen theater known as Britton 8.
McBroom referred questions about the closing to company officials. They could not be reached for comment Thursday.
Leasing agent Lenore Reynolds said Zota signed a lease in July 2004 and later negotiated a month-to-month agreement with the South Tampa plaza's owner, Charles Bickimer.
Reynolds said several theater chains have expressed interest in operating the theater, but no contract has been signed. She said Bickimer would be willing to consider offers from non-theater tenants, although that would require considerable renovations to level the sloped floors.
"The most practical thing is to find a replacement theater," Reynolds said.
Zota was the latest in a line of companies to operate the movie theater.
