Michael Murphy Gallery M will display a selection of works by gallery artists in a free Holiday Soiree from 6 to 9 p.m. today.

Many of the artists will attend the one-night Christmas gala that includes special pricing on some of the artwork, refreshments and 40 percent off any framing ordered using selected frames. The art can be your own or a piece bought at the gallery; the completed framed work is guaranteed for Christmas delivery, said Michelle Loiselle, gallery sales person.

Artist Offers Colorful Kwanzaa

Local artist James Vann has published his third coloring book for children.

This one features illustrations that celebrate Kwanzaa, and introduces it to children who might not be familiar with the African-American holiday.

The $10 book is available at Tampa Artist Emporium, 3415 Bay to Bay Blvd., or by contacting the artist at (813) 643-0261. It also will be available at the annual Kwanzaa Celebration on Saturday at the Polk Museum of Art in Lakeland. Closing Reception Is In a Holiday Mood
5art will host a free holiday-themed reception to close the exhibit, "Sculpture Scale and Tales," from 8 to 10 p.m. Friday Dec. 19.
Featuring works by French-born artist Dominique LaBauvie, the exhibit includes small sculptures created over the past dozen years, as well as many of the sketches that preceded the final configuration.

The event, at 1906 N. Armenia Ave. in Suite 211, includes hors d'oeuvres and a donation bar.
