TAMPA - Trinity Cafe, which has been serving meals to the homeless and hungry at its North Florida Avenue location since 2001, marked this holiday season by serving its 500,000th meal on Dec. 9.
Trinity Cafe's chef, Alfred Astl, personally served the 500,000th meal to guest Dennis Muhonen. Astl is a five-star culinary professional. "What I've eaten here would be a wonderful meal at any restaurant," said Muhonen, a 56-year-old disabled Vietnam veteran. "I know what's going on here with the care of the volunteers. This place is special."
