SOUTH TAMPA It was a memorable night of music performed by young artists at the second annual Christmas concert to benefit Foster Angels of Hillsborough County, held Dec. 10 at The Grand Beauty Spa on Kennedy Boulevard.
The concert was organized last year by 7-year-old Steven George Sargeant, who asked his dad and mother, Steve Sargeant and Carmen Lee-Sargeant, what he could do to make Christmas brighter for children who were less fortunate.
They decided to host a holiday benefit concert in which Steven, who already was an accomplished young pianist, would perform, and guests would be asked to make donations. Steven was the only young artist to perform in 2007, but the concert was bigger this year, with Steven joined on piano and violin by five other young artists, all students of music teacher Ivanka Stefanov.
The performances raised almost $800, in addition to $180 from autographed Christmas book sales donated by Tampa author Andrew Bowen.
