Strike after strike after strike was the order of the week around Tampa's bowling centers.
To wit:
•Five perfect games.
•Two series of 800 or better.
•Two 299s.
Andrew Colon fired his first 300 in the Tampa Youth Travel League at Pin Chasers East Pasco in Zephyrhills.
At AMF Florida Lanes, Cliff Welton went 300-800 and Chris Saturno 266-269-269 - 804 in the Sportsmans League.
At Oakfield Lanes, Manny Godwin rolled 300 and Mike Murkin a 299-771 in the James Rivard Pontiac Men's League.
At AMF University Lanes, Basil Orr was perfect in Frye's Pro Shop League and Cavin Wills rolled a 299-720 in the Men's Commercial League.
And Jim Nemeth bowled 300-744 in the Pin Chasers Veterans Keglers League.
OAKFIELD LANES: Following Godwin's 300 and Murkin's 771 for the men were Marc Weaver 278-762, Nick Rich 278-755, Larry Hojara 277-710 and Mike DeVore 278-709.
Leading the women was Mary McGriff 255-693, while Kim Grund rolled 236-653, Sharon Saccone 235-651, Nancy Jones 269-645, Christine Carlson 235-632, Ann Stoler 601, Denise Sneed 266, Gail Baxley 258, Susie Cox 234 and Patsy Newman 233.
FLORIDA LANES: After Welton's and Saturno's explosions, it was Bill Gaddis 268-764, Darren Walker 745, Amado Candelario 257-707, Xavier Chisholm 656 and Scot Holiga 266.
Jill Creamer led the women with 224-630, while Marilou Candelario had 232-615, Tiffany Makowski 195, Crystal Tonnessen 193, Tina Carter 190 and Dian Carter 190.
PIN CHASERS MIDTOWN: Rick Pierola's 278-731 led all bowlers in the Sardegna's Sport Shop Industrial League.
Right behind Pierola were Derek Powell 266-727, Rocky Lowrance 269-704, Bill Singleton 259-701, John DeMott 695, Joe Carr 279-683, Shell Wilson 677, Derek Roberts 675, Matt Nauman 258-674 (his first 600), Robert Dodson 673, Randy Pullara 668, Larry Purdie 664, Alan Villa 663 and Dennis Arnold 662.
AMF UNIVERSITY: Anthony Carinci's 290-746 and Nick Vollaro's 289-746 led the men, while Selena Santena's 236 and Cassie Soderstrom's 610 paced the women last week.
Other men's scores were Don Helsel 255-697 and Danny Harrison 243-668. Other ladies' scores were Jean Frye 224-543, Santena 540, Ellen Ellis 199-526 and Shaina Schwartz 201-508.
PINARAMA LANES: Rick Amerson's 276 and John Szekely's 659 paced the men, while Kathleen Toler's 225 and Amy Mai's 209-604 led the women in the Base Exchange League.
Other scores for the men were Al Micco 257-656, Amerson 620, Jack Johnson 236-586, Ray Sipple 598 and George Muratides 233-586. Other women scores were Toler 585, Steph Micco 201-522 and Pam Stewart 505.
TAMPA YOUTH TRAVEL LEAGUE: After Colon's 300, Trevor Parham's 251-224-238 - 713 was the pacesetter for the Tampa Youth Travel League at Pin Chasers East Pasco in Zephyrhills.
Mike Schmidt followed Parham with 246-673, while Steven Lavelle had 266-667 and Mike Lux 268-638. Jennifer Boiselle was high for the girls with 227-628, while Danielle Parris had 211-619 and Jackie Fells 213-606.
