SOUTH TAMPA - More than 200 people gathered at the South Tampa home of Rahul Mehra to celebrate Diwali Nights, which served as a kickoff party for the Kamla Project.
Mehra began the project in honor of his late mother, Kamla Kapur Mehra, to help children in foster care. Its mission is to provide psychiatric evaluation services for foster children and parents, provide training and resources to the Guardian ad Litem program and promote awareness in partnership with Voices for Children.
Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum was chairman of the Oct. 27 event, which included recognition for title sponsor Carlton Fields for helping raise more than $15,000.
