TAMPA - Amelia Lubrano of Ridgewood River traveled to Washington recently to help raise awareness about amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, better known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
She and other advocates met with U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor, D-Tampa, as part of ALS Awareness Day.
Lubrano and family and friends also participated in the Walk to Defeat ALS in April in memory of her son, Daniel Morrill, who died of the degenerative disease. The 63-member Team Walking for Daniel raised more than $6,000 for research, including a donation from the New York Yankees.
