EAST TAMPA - Angel Nichole Lee is in a class by herself - literally.
The 17-year-old graduated this month from Bible Truth Ministries Academy as valedictorian and student body president.
She is the school's first senior graduate and only member of the Class of 2008. Bible Truth, 4902 N. 22nd St., is a Christian school serving prekindergarten through high school.
Lee plans to pursue a premed course when she begins classes in August at Hillsborough Community College and hopes to transfer to the University of South Florida.
The academy honored Lee with a video tribute highlighting her community service and assistance as a music instructor for other Bible Truth students. Darlene Harris, a Bible Truth volunteer, created an Angel Nichole Lee Scholarship. Lee is the first recipient. Harris said the $250 scholarship might increase each year and will be awarded to a graduate who embodies Lee's academic excellence and community spirit.
Lee said she started at Bible Truth in the fourth grade with a disappointing first report card of C's and D's. She turned that around and began earning A's and B's.
"Although you start out bad, you can end up good," she told students and parents at the graduation ceremonies. "This has been such an amazing journey for me. Don't give up."
