Arielle Serrano, a Plant High student hit by a car two years ago in front of the school, died June 21. She was 17.
She had been undergoing physical and speech therapy at home in Odessa. She died at Town & Country Hospital, likely from an infection, a family spokeswoman said.

"My thoughts and prayers are with you right now. I can't even imagine what you must be going through, but since the day of the accident Arielle has never left my mind. And since the accident, anytime I have been in need of strength I would look to her because I know how much of a fighter she was, and how strong she was. ... I will never forget Arielle's wonderful spirit; how she had the ability to brighten anyone's day with that amazing smile of hers. And I know that she is up there in heaven now, looking over all of us, with that mile-wide smile of hers, protecting us, and being a guardian angel for all of us."

"My son attended Plant at the time of Arielle's accident. I never met Arielle or her family, but I just wanted to share my deepest condolences for the family. ... I canceled my appointments for today and went to Sacred Heart church to pray for Arielle, her twin and her family. I know what a great loss this is. God bless."

"Arielle, I remember all those recitals of freaking out in the dressing room and then being so graceful on stage. I remember all the dance practices we had together and all the laughs we shared. I remember the last conversation we had like it was yesterday. You always brought a smile to my face and a warmth in my heart."

"We were blessed to help care for you. You have taught us so much about strength, courage, love and compassion. Give Nannie and Pappy a big hug and kiss for us. Now dance, baby, dance! We love you forever."
Anita and Wayne Henriquez
