Get More Than Details At New Auto Salon

Published: March 19, 2008

TAMPA - Brothers John and Paul Autry have opened South Tampa Auto Salon at 3717 S. Manhattan Ave.

The shop offers wash, wax and detail services, plus window tinting and vehicle accessorizing such as spray bed liners for pickup trucks, spoilers for cars, stereo systems and alarms.

"We want to be your auto salon, not just a quick detail shop," John Autry said. "A lot of people with nice cars don't want to go into an electric machine; they want a hand wash."

The $99 a month Pristine Treatment Club allows owners to treat their ride to a full detail treatment (up to six hours of work), plus seven washes and an extra wax job.

The salon offers free shuttle service. Commercial and residential window tinting also is available.

Hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. For details, call (813) 835-3450 or go to www.stautosalon.com.

InnoVision Eye Care and Eye Wear has expanded to its third Tampa location at 3202 W. Kennedy Blvd. Nevin Sarno is the ophthalmologist.

InnoVision President Ted Gillette, formerly of Vision Twenty-One, opened the first store of his latest venture in Palm Harbor in 2004. He owns five stores in Pinellas County and two in New Tampa.

"The business model is more focused on eye care," Gillette said.

Muay Thai Opens On North Howard

Fans of Ultimate Fighting Championship can get the same training at Khanomtom Muay Thai, 808 N. Howard Ave., in North Hyde Park.

Instructor Jalal Khatib and his partners expanded the business from a fight club they started in East Tampa about a year ago.

"We are Tampa's only source of authentic Muay Thai," Khatib said.

The sport has ancient military roots in Thailand and pits two opponents in a ring using combinations of kicks and punches. Fighters wear gloves similar to boxing gloves.

"We go to Thailand every year for about a month and train at the source," Khatib said.

The $75 monthly membership includes two sessions a week; the $120 membership includes six sessions a week.

Call Khatib at (813) 393-8390 or go to www.tampa muaythai.com/wb/.

The Hair Lounge Offers Art, Too

The Hair Lounge and Color Room, 2118 W. Cass St., is more than a place to get a new 'do, facial, waxing or nail treatment.

It's also an art gallery.

"Our goal is to have new artists every three months," said Wendy Menouni, who opened the salon in July with partner Michelle Morris.

Menouni said she also wants to keep the shop hip and casual.

"I would hang out here on my day off," she said.

Women's styling starts at $40; men's cuts at $25. Service is by appointment by calling (813) 253-3571.
