SEMINOLE HEIGHTS - Board a city van for a tour of Seminole Heights on Friday.
The van leaves at 9 a.m. from Seminole Garden Center, 5800 Central Ave. Some walking may be involved.
The tour is part of a pilot redevelopment project in a nearly 5-square-mile area covering the neighborhoods of Old Seminole Heights, Southeast Seminole Heights and South Seminole Heights. City staff, business and property owners and residents are creating a plan that could make the neighborhood more pedestrian-friendly with a blend of homes, shops and public spaces.
Tour participants are encouraged to bring a clipboard and paper.
The van holds 13 passengers. Maps of the six stops will be available for others who want to follow along.
Reservations are needed by 5 p.m. Wednesday by contacting Samantha Fenger of the city's land development office at (813) 274-8405 or Samantha.Fenger@tampagov.net.
Reporter Kathy Steele can be reached at (813) 835-2103 or ksteele@tampatrib.com.
