TAMPA - About 245 parents, friends and staff raised more than $65,000 for Mitchell Elementary School during its fourth annual fundraiser, "Jeans & Gems," on April 25.
The event, held at the Embassy Suites Downtown Tampa, kicked off with a silent auction, and a live auction followed dinner.
"We are fortunate to have tremendous support from parents and business owners in our community," event chairwoman Greta Brooks said. "Thanks to their generosity, we will be able to make wonderful improvements to the play area on our school's newly renovated campus."
Proceeds from past auctions helped fund a covered pavilion and an upgraded playground at the school.
