Krewe Of Zingaro Plans Popular Uncork The Cure Benefit

DOWNTOWN - The fourth annual Uncork the Cure wine tasting will feature wines, food, live music, and silent and live auctions.

The event, sponsored by the Krewe of Zingaro, will be from 5 to 8 p.m. June 22 at The Tampa Club, 101 E. Kennedy Blvd. Dress is tropical casual.

The fundraiser will benefit pediatric cancer research at St. Joseph's Hospital. In three years, Uncork the Cure has raised more than $100,000 for research.

Patricia Embry, the krewe's community service director, is the event chairwoman. Bill Nipper is krewe president.

Tickets are $50 in advance and $60 at the door, and are available by calling the Foundation of St. Joseph's Hospitals at (813) 872-0979 or going to www.uncorkthecure.com.

Academy Hosts Brunch For Fathers, Daughters

PALMA CEIA - More than 180 fathers and their daughters gathered recently at Palma Ceia Golf & Country Club for the Academy of the Holy Names' Father-Daughter Brunch.

The event was organized by Matt Zazzero, the school's Dads Club president, and Greg Babin, a club member. Jacqueline L. Landry, the academy's president and chief executive officer, opened the lunch with a prayer.

Each father presented his daughter with a rose.

Members Celebrate Club's 80th Birthday
SUNSET PARK - Sunset Park Garden Club members will celebrate the club's 80{+t}{+h} birthday and the end of the club year with a luncheon.

The Dutch-treat luncheon will be Wednesday at the conclusion of the 10 a.m. meeting where officers will be installed and committee chairs introduced.

The meeting will be at the group's garden center, 4624 Browning Ave.

Jayne Smith will be the new president of the club, which was formed June 6, 1928. Other officers are: Ann Johnson, vice president; Maryse Beaudry, recording secretary; Ellen Eikman, corresponding secretary; and Carole Page, treasurer.

DeSoto DAR Meets At Tampa Yacht Club
SOUTH TAMPA - Rebecca Lockhart, reporter general of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, will speak when the DeSoto Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution meets June 13. The meeting will be from noon to 3 p.m. at the Tampa Yacht Club, 5320 Interbay Blvd.

Violet Society Meets Thursday

EAST TAMPA - Lynn Wilson will present a program on streptocarpus at Thursday's meeting of the Tampa African Violet Society.
