WEST TAMPA - The city recently dedicated a new playground at Al Lopez Park that includes a keyboard and hopscotch area that emit sounds when stepped on - a first for parks on the East Coast, said Linda Carlo, parks and recreation department spokeswoman.
There also are swings, slides, climbing nets and walls, play areas for smaller children and covered picnic tables.
Children from the city's After School Activity Program helped choose the equipment.
The playground cost $325,800; the park is at 4810 N. Himes Ave.
