SOUTH TAMPA - Richard Sheridan, a neonatologist at St. Joseph's Women's Hospital, is Gov. Charlie Crist's Points of Light Award winner for August.
Sheridan was recognized for outstanding volunteerism at the Healthy Start Coalition of Hillsborough, 3902 Henderson Blvd. For years, he has donated time to the coalition to help pregnant women and reduce infant mortality.
Michelle Todd, special assistant to the governor, presented the award and read from Crist's letter: "The volunteer time you give to the people of Florida and your community enhances the lives of many and sets a fine example of the important contributions each and every citizen of our state can make."
The Points of Light Award, established in 2000, recognizes residents who demonstrate exemplary volunteer service to their community.
