SEMINOLE HEIGHTS - Despite threatening clouds from the outer bands of Hurricane Gustav, more than a dozen hot rod and antique car owners cruised to the Bungalow Bistro, 5137 N. Florida Ave., on Aug. 31 for its first Hot Rod and Antique Car Show.
Elizabeth Graham said she came up with the idea for the event, billed as "Fast Cars and Flaming Food," as a way to spend more time with her husband, Michael, who likes to drag race. The Grahams own the restaurant and Forever Beautiful Salon and Day Spa, 5135 N. Florida Ave.
A variety of cool cars converged, with participant choice awards given for first, second and third place. Winners received Bungalow Bistro gift certificates.
Elizabeth Graham said she plans to host more cruise-in-style events.
