TAMPA - The documentary film "Halls of Tradition: Hillsborough High School" is set to premiere Oct. 4 at the school, 5000 N. Central Ave.
The documentary "Seminole Heights, An Intimate Look at the Early Years," which premiered in April at Tampa Theatre, also will be featured. Both films will be shown at 3 and 7 p.m. in the auditorium.
Author Ann Turner Cook, retired head of Hillsborough High's English department, will be a guest at the 3 p.m. showing.
"Halls of Tradition," produced by the Education Channel, covers the school from 1886, when four students graduated, through today. The Seminole Heights film looks at the development of the trolley car suburb.
The event is sponsored by the Hillsborough High Alumni Association, the Old Seminole Heights Neighborhood Association and the Education Channel.

Chiselers, Society Prepare For Show
DOWNTOWN - The Chiselers and the Henry B. Plant Museum Society will present the 2008 Silhouettes in Fashion show and luncheon at 11 a.m. Oct. 20 at the Hyatt Regency Downtown.
The event will include recognition of Betty Wood, who is the honorary chairwoman and founded the biennial fashion show.
Brenda Ketchey is the event chairwoman. Her assistants are Ruth Giordano and HolliMorris.
The Chiselers group, founded in 1959, is dedicated to the preservation of the 1891 Tampa Bay Hotel, now Plant Hall, on the University of Tampa campus. Its 315 members have raised more than $3 million for the building.
The museum society was started in 1975 to support the museum, located in Plant Hall. It has contributed $2 million to restore and preserve furnishings and art.
At the Chiselers' meeting and luncheon Sept. 17, led by President Glenda Barlow, members discussed the fashion show and other plans. Kim Hanna and Judy Rodriquez also had members participate in a quiz to name products from 1959.

Brooks Honored As Children's Champ
WEST SHORE - Voices for Children will honor Tampa Bay Buccaneer Derrick Brooks with the Champion for Children Award at 7 p.m. Oct. 2 at the Renaissance Tampa Hotel at International Plaza.
Brooks' contributions include The Brooks Bunch, Derrick Brooks Charities and the Brooks-DeBartolo Collegiate High School in North Tampa.
The nonprofit Voices raises money and awareness to assist abused and neglected children represented by Guardians ad Litem.

South Tampa Chamber Plans Hob Nob 2008
CHANNEL DISTRICT - The South Tampa Chamber of Commerce will sponsor Hob Nob 2008, a nonpartisan meet-and-greet for candidates and voters to discuss issues, from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Banana Joe's & The Velvet Room at Channelside Bay Plaza.
The event includes hors d'oeuvres and nonalcoholic beverages, with a cash bar available.
Advance tickets are $25 for chamber members, $30 for nonmembers and $20 for students and military personnel. All tickets are $35 at the door.

Mayor Iorio Named Woman Of The Year
WEST SHORE - Mayor Pam Iorio will be honored as the Woman of the Year at the 16th annual Networking Night to benefit the Tampa Business and Professional Women Foundation's scholarship fund.
The event will be from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 8 at The Centre Club, 123 S. West Shore Blvd., and is sponsored by the Downtown BPW and the Westshore Midday BPW.
Tickets are $45 for members and $50 for guests through Sunday. Tickets are then $60.

Ladies Of The Crown Party In Beach Park
BEACH PARK - Ladies of the Crown members, along with their husbands and guests and prospective members, gathered recently at the home of Patti Italiano to begin a new season for the krewe.
The purpose of Ladies of the Crown, which was founded in 1986, "is to have fun and fellowship," President Judy Dato said. "We gather once a month. There are no hours of service required or number of events you have to attend."
Dato said the organization has about 90 members.
Museum's Fundraiser Features Auction
The Florida Museum of Photographic Arts will have a party and auction to benefit the museum and the Friends of the Library of Tampa-Hillsborough County.
The event, featuring photos from the Burgert Brothers collection, will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Neiman Marcus at International Plaza. It includes a wine tasting, food and entertainment.

Lunch, Fashion Show Benefit The Spring
WEST SHORE - The Spring Daytime Auxiliary and The Salon & Spa at Saks Fifth Avenue will have a luncheon and fashion show Oct. 6 at the Renaissance Tampa Hotel at International Plaza.
The fashion show will feature clothing and accessories from The Spring Vintage Boutique. A silent auction begins at 10:45 a.m., lunch is at noon, and the fashion show is at 12:30 p.m.

Garcias Hosting Dinner At Bern's
SOHO - Tampa Bay Buccaneer Jeff Garcia and his wife, Carmella, will host a fundraising dinner at Bern's Steak House, 1208 S. Howard Ave.
The event, limited to 40 guests, will be from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Friday. Proceeds will benefit the Humane Society of Tampa Bay, via the Garcia Pass It On Foundation.

BEACH PARK - The Beach Park Women's Club will host a Members Social Reacquainted Event on Friday at the group's clubhouse, 801 S. West Shore Blvd.
The social time is at 10:30 a.m., the meeting at 10:45 a.m. and the luncheon at noon.
Club President Pam Menendez has chosen the theme "Savoring Our Traditions."
