TAMPA HEIGHTS - A downtown law firm is moving to Tampa Heights.
Weekley Schulte Valdes plans to move into the former Ticor Title building, 1635 N. Tampa St., by May 25, said Chris Schulte, a partner in the firm that handles civil litigation.
Schulte said the firm was moving to the 11,000-square-foot building with a staff of 15. The law firm will occupy two-thirds of the building and lease the remainder.
The law firm paid $1.1 million for the property, Schulte said.
He touted the amount of parking, the site's easy access to Interstate 275, and the building's close proximity to the Tampa campus of Stetson University College of Law, the 2nd District Court of Appeal and the Hillsborough County Bar Association's headquarters.
Last year another law firm, Bush Ross, opened its offices in Tampa Heights at 1801 N. Highland Ave.
"It's more open," Schulte said. "It is not as congested as downtown."
Weekley Schulte Valdes was founded in January 2008 and currently is in downtown Tampa at 101 E. Kennedy Blvd.
