TAMPA - On April 4, 25 students from St. John's Episcopal Parish Day School traveled to Orlando to participate in the Florida State Latin Forum, sponsored by the Florida Junior Classical League. The students competed in academic, creative and athletic competitions and were ranked by their performance against other middle or junior division schools throughout the state. St. John's students excelled in academic tests such as grammar, vocabulary and mythology; they took the top awards in several creative contests, including pottery and mosaics; and they won athletic awards during the Romapalooza portion of the three-day event.
The St. John's team swept the Ludi portion which included the club contests and athletic competitions; they received first place for the junior division. In the creative category, St. John's won second place; and in academics, third place. In the overall sweepstakes, St. John's took second place for all of the competing junior division schools in the state.
