TAMPA - At a Disney Wide World of Sports tournament from Jan. 17-19, the Tampa Dragons 3v3 under-13 boys soccer team placed second nationally against 28 other teams.
The South Tampa team, ranked 24th going into the tournament, defeated the defending national champions in pool play, eventually falling to them in the final.
The tournament featured many regional champions. En route to the championship game, the Dragons defeated teams from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida, Illinois and South Carolina. The team collectively outscored its opponents 50-17 in the tournament.
