YBOR CITY - Focusing on its mission to promote healthy, strong and resilient foundations for Hillsborough County children, the Bright Beginnings agency hosted its 20th anniversary celebration, Building Promising Futures for Children and Families, on May 21 at the Columbia Restaurant Museum.
Former Buccaneer player Shelton Quarles was the keynote speaker. Quarles is the founder of the IMPACT Foundation, whose mission is to help at-risk youths and their families.
Bright Beginnings, formerly known as the Maternal Child Health Coalition, began providing services in 1989, with an initial focus to promote healthy births. In 1998, Bright Beginnings expanded its reach, concentrating on services that now include the promotion of health for children, prenatally through early childhood.
