TAMPA - On Feb. 21, the Gasparilla Distance Classic Association, C.E. Mendez Foundation and University of Tampa hosted the 19th running of the Too Good For Drugs Jr. Gasparilla Distance Classic at the university's Art & Polly Pepin Stadium. The event is for children ages 2 to 10, and rather than being a competition, the run focuses on participation and education. Every child received the number 1 as their race number, a race packet full of goodies, a Too Good For Drugs Jr. Gasparilla Distance Classic Race T-shirt and, after crossing the finish line, a Finisher's Medal. The more than 1,400 kids ran distances according to their age.
