HYDE PARK - The Red Cross Angels combined a meeting with a visit to the Princess Diana dresses currently on display at Hyde Park Village.
About 50 women turned out to see the dresses, owned by Angels president Maureen Rorech Dunkel, and to hear Bob Singerman talk about the gowns.
"If you are thinking about being a princess, think about a pink dress," he said, showing a gown.
"Her dresses were always made for an event," he said. "And the hems were always weighed so she wouldn't have a Marilyn Monroe moment."
The dresses are on display through April 1 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Proceeds from the admission and sale of books assist local charities, including the Red Cross. Admission is $12.50 for adults, $5 for ages 6 to 12 and free for ages 5 and younger.
While at the display, the group had its monthly meeting and focused on upcoming events.
Anna Trefethen, executive director of the chapter, thanked the volunteers for their service and financial support.
"We depend on the Angels; we love the Angels and they have supported us over the years," she said. "This economy is very difficult this year."
