Digging into schoolwork

SEMINOLE HEIGHTS - Nearly a dozen volunteers from area businesses and the Seminole Heights Community Garden recently helped students at Cleveland Elementary plant a butterfly garden.

The project was for 9/11 National Day of Service and Remembrance.
Landscape designer Natasha Motesharei, and designer and arborist Ricky Peterika, with Ekistics Design Studio, designed the garden. All Native nursery in Zephyrhills donated plants. Tree Smart in Tampa discounted pine chips used in the garden. Volunteers Janet, Lindsay and Ellice Altman, Piet Vanderhorst, Kevin Siebold, Sherrie Gill, Eddie Reynolds, Robin Milcowitz and Motesharei helped students plant the garden.

Community garden volunteers hope to plant another garden at Seminole Heights Elementary.
