SOUTH TAMPA - Three Academy of the Holy Names students, Alexandra Sarau, Jennifer Caldwell and Sara Ku, were among 34,000 students from around the nation to receive recognition from the National Merit Scholarship program.
Caldwell and Ku were named commended students for the 2010 National Merit Scholarship program. Each received a letter of commendation in recognition of their outstanding academic promise. They placed among the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the competition by taking the 2008 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.
The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships. Commended students are named on the basis of a nationally applied selection index score that might vary from year to year.
