SOUTH TAMPA - Students from the University of Tampa donned work clothes to help local elders Aug. 28. With the coordination of Seniors in Service of Tampa Bay, 17 student volunteers headed to Jewish Towers on West De Leon Street.
The volunteers rolled up their sleeves to scrub floors, wash windows, and clean kitchens and bathrooms for elderly residents. They also spent time visiting with the residents.
This senior housing complex was selected because Seniors in Service volunteers are there throughout the year as part of the Senior Companion and Volunteer Caregiver programs.
Seniors in Service salutes all students who take part in days of service. Their efforts are part of UT's Into the Streets program.
