The 1998 graduating class at Christ the King Catholic School held its 10-year reunion Dec. 26. Among the class of 37 former students, 16 came to the gathering (the third reunion in the last 10 years) organized by the graduates at CDBs Southside Italian Restaurant & Bar. With the help of Facebook and MySpace, they have kept in touch with each other. At the reunion, the friends watched their class video, originally shown at graduation, which featured photographs of each student from infancy through eighth grade, along with group photos from throughout the years. ...more

The Dad's Club at Christ the King Catholic School on Dec. 5 sponsored Dads and Donuts Toy Drive. Students and faculty donated more than 1,500 toys which were donated to Salesian Youth Center, St. Peter Claver Catholic School and Redlands Christian Migrant Association. As part of the program, Sister Mary Jackson spoke about Advent and explained that to be a saint you must be joyful, faithful and not miss recess. ...more

Jared Fogle, a spokesman for Subway Restaurants, visited Christ the King Catholic School on Nov. 7 while in Tampa to promote the American Heart Association Heart Walk. He talked to students about healthy living and making good decisions. He also introduced his "big pants" that represent his weight before he lost 245 pounds on a Subway diet. ...more
