Three gyms from the Bay area will send 20 local gymnasts to compete this weekend at the USA Gymnastics Level 9 Eastern Championships in Kettering, Ohio. Eight local students, accompanied by four chaperons, attended the recent Space Camp for the Blind at the Space Center in Huntsville, Ala. The weeklong camp drew 160 blind or visually impaired students from 26 U.S. states, as well as Israel, Liberia, Ireland and Canada. Activities included learning about the history of space exploration, basic military procedure and drills, robotics and survival skills.
