LIVE OAK PRESERVE - Zuriel Cabrera's beef with his cable TV company started shortly after he moved into Live Oak Preserve and learned he couldn't receive high-definition channels or use his brand-new TiVo. Last week, he took his issues to the Federal Communications Commission. Cabrera, who has been a vocal opponent of bulk contracts between cable companies and homeowners associations, flew to Washington, D.C., to meet with members of the FCC's media bureau and other commission staff. ...more

CORY LAKE ISLES - The Cory Lake Isles Property Owners Association and residents who are suing it are headed back to court June 24. Developer Gene Thomason turned over the financial records of Cory Lakes Limited, which billed homeowners for management and security services for the gated New Tampa community. But lawyer Mark Basurto, who represents the seven homeowners who are suing over access to the records, said the documents raised more questions than they answered. ...more

LIVE OAK PRESERVE - The New Tampa community that has made such a stink over its cable TV service is getting an audience with the chairman of the Federal Communications Commission. Homeowner Zuriel Cabrera, who launched www.banbulkbilling.com, is scheduled to meet with FCC Chairman Kevin Martin and other policymakers in Washington on June 18. The commission is considering a proposal to prohibit cable companies from entering into long-term contracts with condo boards and homeowners associations. ...more
